Pregnancy Massage
providing relief to the pregnant woman and the changing needs of her body. Studies have shown that women who received massage therapy reported decreased depression, anxiety, and leg and back pain. Cortisol levels decreased and, in turn, excessive fetal activity decreased, and the rate of prematurity was lower in the massage group. In a study of labor pain, women who received massage therapy experienced significantly less pain, and their labors were on average 3 hour shorter with less need for medication. Reducing stress and tension on the body will help in having a more manageable pregnancy.

I have taken the Perinatal M.T. Onsite Hospital Intensive Working with Complicated/Higher Risk Pregnancies at the Women’s College Health Sciences Center. When receiving massage therapy while pregnant safety should be your therapists number one concern.
